Hi, all, I’m unsure what the rush is for labeling Adam a Star, superstar, etc. to “everyone” or the “masses.” I think he will always be pushing the envelope; it’s his creative nature not to repeat what he’s done before. There is time for him to do albums of American songbook, musical theatre faves, etc. I would much rather Adam experiment with his own sound(s), rather than sound the same on every song—which is one way to get and build a significant fan base which allows music directors to be lazy and go with a similar sound/artist like Katy Perry, kpop groups, and Ed Sheeren . ( my opinions only) The exception here may be Adele.
Nobody has ever said Adam Lambert sounds like....(artist). But you do hear other artists compared to each other and new artists called another Shawn Mendes, or a Taylor Swift -type.
Adam can sing any style anytime. I think he’s more likely to win Grammys by following his more authentic personal muse. Who else is doing thematically related songs and videos—exploring his club experiences. Queen allows him the financial base to do more indie sounds. Like his hair, just wait a minute and his clearer diction and ringing tones will be back. He has the luxury of playing with styles. I don’t think anyone will ever put Adam in a stylistic corner.
Being a unique and versatile talent does not lend itself to a singular style. Just my opinions. Ymmv.
He’s released two songs. Who’s to say Superpower won’t show off his “big” voice. And theirs no guarantee a big vocal we’ll generate a radio hit for him. We know he can sing big. You want that go watch him with Queen. His music needs to represent an identity outside all of that. Musics subjective.
I agree also miss the big voice...will love and support him always...
For me, it's not just the big voice, it is the velvet voice. The luxurious seamless, flawless flow of gorgeous sound with its richness and overtones and expressiveness. I love the glory notes but even more I love being wrapped in that sound - that voide - that resonantes in every pore of my being and takes me to a different world - a voice for the ages.
I agree totally. You said it perfectly. When I say I love his BIG voice, I really mean that rich, luxurious, flawless voice, as you describe so well. It doesn't always have to be loud and booming. But his voice always has that smooth, emotional control that just grabs you and won't let go. Even his "quieter" songs have shown immense power and fullness. It's what we've grown to love. He says that Superpower is a real "banger." I think we are ready for that. I hope that song knocks us upside the head in a really good way. I'm ready to be grabbed and shaken up a whole lot. It's one of Adam's greatest talents. LOL
I think he could have "taken over the world" if his own musical tastes had been different. He tends to go against the grain a bit. Or better, his own taste in music is rather "eclectic". Let's all try to remember the immense response to "Believe". That's his strong suit.
Agree with this. His covers absolutely blow me away, each and every time.
My musical tastes tend to be eclectic also, for the most part...or I should say varied. Rufus Wainwright resides in my playlist along with Rascal Flatts and Andrea Bocelli. But I don't appear to be a fan on 70's music lol.
My very favorite Adam album remains FYE...loved every single song.
Yep, FYE remains my favorite. And besides, maybe, Runnin, it is really his only stuff I still listen to regularly. , Now something truly controversial, lol, I don't think songwriting is Adam's strong-suit. He is an amazing singer and performer, but he just doesn't have the knack for writing a hit song. Nobody has to agree---just my opinion. My favorite Adam songs tend to be ones written by others.
This is for major Adamtopia announcements. If you want to discuss Adam, start with today's Daily News & Information thread.
nannygoat: Just heard this parody of Bohemian Rhapsody. Thought everyone would enjoy it. Amazes me how people can be so creative. ow.ly/p9ZH30niDPS and did I mention how much I am enjoying all the 'goodies' we got lately? "Feel Something" is gorgeous.

atomom: Adam's artistry is in full display: the surprise of hiccuppy gasps right before "new eyes", the sensuous tongue, one-two punch of "damn" smile, head thrown back, body drops to heavy guitar beats, a lusciously looking Adam--all make NE a visual/aural feast.
