I am a little surprised that Madonna's spins did not increase as big as I thought they would. Yes, she still passed Adam. But we knew that was going to happen.
This Gotye single is a perfect example of radio "latching" onto someone and making it fly up the charts. I may be missing it, but I can't find this song in the top 200 of i-tunes even. Gonna go look again.

So should we be at all concerned about the Itunes placement? I know the radio play isn't there, but shouldn't the song be sitting higher on the chart at this point? Obviously, the video is getting lots of exposure.
I REALLY hope RCA has big promo plans for the album, including a good ramp up to the drop week. When do you think we will be hearing about some of these plans (dates for TV, morning shows, etc.)

No concern about the i-Tunbes ranking. It won't move up & stay up until it gets to Top 20 on HAC and Top 40 on CHR.

Maybe after Adam does some promo over here, things will change, but right now it doesn't look good to me. He needs a song that is charting well for this album to sell and there isn't much time left for that to happen since his songs don't shoot up the charts like Kelly's do. ::) |

Not sure of anything. But I know the NYC promo is coming up next week and that is a good thing. If Z100 jumps on board with a power rotation, then "yes" it could start climbing so fast it'll make your head spin! Because then all the other Top 40 stations will start spinning it more too  I think RCA has 3 more weeks to wait and see. |

This is going to be a slow burn, not a fast smash. Spins will continue to pick up-he's got some new adds this week and eventually they will kick in. He's doing more promo and is likely to get more adds. Sales will follow.

I'm very confident Adam's album will sell well (of course, we all may define "well" differently) - the question, for me, is only "how well"?
I think his album will sell "well" because his last album did, his fans are quite loyal, IMO, and the pre-reviews are mainly positive with not a few out-and-out "rave reviews."
Will Adam ever be as big (especially on radio) as some? "Dark" me thinks, no. "Light" me thinks, maybe . . .

Did Z100 play WWFM and IIHY? Oh yes!! They spun the crap out of them. They added WWFM fast. But they were a later add for IIHY, 3 weeks after Q102! |

I think it will be on the VH1 countdown starting next week, since it did a VH1 premiere this week. It looks to me like the video, VH1 and New York radio are all kicking in at the same time. I've said it so many tmes before, but I believe all of this is the original plan RCA had for the promo when the release date for BTIKM was January (probably, the 2nd week, 1/10) It's just that the surprise damn Dec. release has messed with our minds. I think the only negative that had, was that the i-tunes banners were wasted back then. It'd be nice to have them now, IMO. Jazz, giving up emjays has been surprisingly easy! Great for my blood pressure too! :D |
