I think Sony releases every idols albums in some of Asian countries and in Canada too (and countries where Idol's popular or countries where they get to see AI) . What I don't understand is why most of them don't get the promotion.

There really are big culturel differences. If you show the "fuck sign" in Finland, it's mostly considered as a joke and not as an insulting (at least among adults). You can also use the fuck word here in radio and TV without any problems. ::)

My question is, why is this news? Did we not know this all along?
By the way, I agree that Adam used it in this case to deflect the interviewers question about Kris. But the information itself is imo not new.
The official contract announcement had that world wide aspect in there for Adam, vs 'millions of Americans' is what is used in Kris' case. Tried to find the texts for you and found it quoted on this site below, but the original source document seems not to come up in google search, so sorry for the obscure reference, but I am glad I found it here. Comparing the two texts is actually quite revealing.
Secondly: An attempt was made after the finale of season 8 to give Adam an ‘equivalent’ deal, that is to threat winner and runner-up equally, and idol went out of their way to announce publicly that this was being done. By no means was that done in all other years prior or other years since. We can all make assumptions as to the details, and fan theories were spun endlessly about this in 2009, but there is no question that an attempt was made to publicly make it seem this way.

I also vaguely recall an interview that was given by one of the 'suits' from idol, where he confirmed that Adam and Kris received virtually equal contracts and when asked why they did not make them completely equal he responded that their situations were different and that ie Adam was licensed to RCA and marketed as a global artist right from the start.
I could not find that interview anymore though and do not know who was speaking, so it is also hard to search, perhaps somebody recalls which interview that might have been, because of course 3 years later the details do become vague.
We also know from the NYTimes article that at least the advances and a few other payments for KA and Adam were quite different (KA's were higher), so obviously something else must have weighed in Adam's favor, if they "overall" were supposed to be equal. I thought that the going assumptions always was that Adam got the commitment to be marketed as a global artist from the get-go and that this was what leveled the playing field. That last part is of course guess work on parts of the fandom, as we do not know all the details, but we do know three things:
1) An attempt was made to treat Adam and Kris as equals – and it was announced in a contractual context 2) KA got more upfront money, extra payments, if NYT research is to be trusted 3) Adam was to be marketed as global artist
Why is the fact that Adam had a global promotion contract all of a sudden news?
Adam was quick on his feet and very good hearted to use the contract difference as the obvious explanation on why Kris is not heard from in Canada, avoiding thereby the implied message.
But the contractual info itself is not news, to the best of my knowledge, so I was actually surprised to read here that many thought it was new.

It's a dead thread, but in gelly's absence, I will answer. The medges are his short medges. In many of the adam-pictures you can see where the medges end, under the pants. The pants are over the medges. There are no other layers. These pants were posted from the designer on here, by Gelly, right after the EMAs. And I have had one of my life's wishes fulfilled.... to see these pants without a jacket! ;D
