Michelle @love4lambies Here it is!! I think its his initials only b/c of the speedy signing but still I GOT AN AUTOGRAPH FROM @adamlambert!!pic.twitter.com/Mcw6JfJL
Kasia Z. @kate_piano My dad made video of some songs, very good view but only in first part of show, after memory card was full xd he zoomed Adam all time xd
Kasia Z. @kate_piano Thank you guys, you're so cool I'll upload more vids and pics later :* now time to sleep, it's too much for me <3
rogogon @rogogon The show was fucking amazing!!! I was in the first row, crying so hard. Adam sang his face off, truly fantastic. Killed it!! And people LOVED him! Then we met him at the hotel, got to get things signed and talk to him! He's the most beautiful soul! Still cant believe it, so unreal. Adam is unreal.
I know that I'm late as hell. (I have big problems with Internet connection - bad weather) but I will try to write some Wroc³aw concert recap with my broken English It was my first time seeing Adam live and what can I say? It was one of the best first times in my life. He was beautiful, amazing. He was everything all you said he will be and more. There were so many moving moments - like when crowd was singing "Love of my life" or all the hands in the air during "Radio Ga Ga". Crowd was loving him, accepting him. They were doing everything what he wants. I was sitting next to a passionate Queen fan - we were talking a little during concert. I asked him about red jacket - his answer "I know shit about fashion. For me that jacket is ridiculous but I'm sure that Freddie would loved it." and about Adam - "He's much better than I'd expected him to be. Very strong voice, great stage presence. There were long moments when I forgot about Freddie, wasn't thinking about orginal performances, I just let myself enjoy the experience - beloved songs, amazing band, good singer". He said to me that he will listen to Adams music. I was talking with other Queen fans too - old and young (and yup, I made notes to remember what they all said). The girls were mostly smitten - heard a lot of about long legs, great ass, eyes, lips, leather pants and yeah, about that sexy voice too ;D Interesting - a lot of them wants to know whether he is professionally trained singer. Some 60-70 year old man said to me "He is not Freddie (yeah, I know, I know) but he has this style you know, this Queen style". Another "He know his place on stage next to the legends that are May and Taylor. He knows that this is about Queen, not about him. I like that." Some young couples "We were like "WTH is Adam Lambert?", now we are like "Why we have never heard of him before?", "This songs deserved the best singer they can get. It was good choice." Some young woman "He is so cute! The sexiest man I've ever seen." her boyfriend "Hey! I'm standing here!" (a lot of husbands and boyfriends can relate, I think ;D). I seriously heard only good things about Adam, about his voice, his performance. People were very exited and happy to be a part of this event. The only thing I'm sad about is that I didn't meet with girls from Adamtopia . I meet only with Butterfly, but briefly. (Hey beautiful!). I couldn't find them after concert. I hope next time I will be more lucky!
And Adam was perfect. The whole concert was perfect but of course my main interest is Adam. I call Brian’s and Roger’s part “intermission”. 8-) Because I can finally take a breath, sort myself and get ready for part two.
Adam owned that stage, he walked and danced it up and down and to the left and to the right, it was great to see. Ever since seeing static Elton John in Kiev (not live, mind you) I appreciate Adam’s moving around so much more.
And I don’t care what anybody with a perfect hearing or professional hearing says: His vocals were perfect. You come at me with any nitpicking on a recording and I’ll listen, but to nitpick a performance like the one in Wroclaw in front of 30,000 people is just unacceptable. Unless your Brian May or Roger Tayler and lived these songs for the last 40 years I’ll continue the scrolling.
The effect of the lack of Musicians Queen were in Moscow
In the sport complex "Olympic" was concert of the British band Queen - Brian May and Roger Taylor. Approximately half of the vocals performed a 30-year-old American singer Adam Lambert, one of the songs was performed by Zemfira. Narrated by Boris Barabanov More: www.kommersant.ru/doc/1971661
The last time the Queen members Brian May (guitar) and Roger Taylor (drums), staged in the Moscow session of the collective worship of a great team, they helped Paul Rodgers - itself a respected singer and author, whose career has evolved in parallel with the Queen. In the current tour, Queen did not bet on the fans close to retirement age, and young people. Among the very young consumers of popular music is for a good layer of those for whom the Queen - an empty phrase, but the American Idol finalist Adam Lambert - the idol. Gray-haired music fans are as many distressed about this, but it is a fact. And sell the songs of Queen of the public only through this that's not obvious to the gentlemen of the character of adults, non-traditional sex orientation which does not add to his resemblance to Freddie Mercury. It is much less flexible in the vocals, but the right moment gives passages enough whining to a girl brought up on emo bands heard in these songs something completely his own. To its credit, Adam Lambert should be noted that he still pulled all the right notes, which can not be said of drummer Taylor, who sings in this show is much larger than its companion May, and the result is worse than just a few years ago. No wonder Mr. Taylor did not perform on this tour his signature number "I` m In Love With My Car "- it still requires a very different vocal form. By the way, when Roger Taylor went to the microphone, an instrument for the drummer replaced by his son. Was envisaged in the program and drum duel - a sort of generational conflict. . A separate line should be mentioned the producers show. And if the figure of the singer - is the message of a new generation of listeners, the staging of the world - hello to those who used to love the scenery of the Queen in 1970. Artists of reproduced antique light score, but the console with lights controlled by the latest computerized devices, and lamps, almost torn off from the old VHS-tapes were arranged in a plane capable of transforming at lightning speed. His Majesty was also a mirror ball, and very cleverly managed.
==================================== Here now is the delightful article from Poland, with comments about the Kiev concert:
Translation: Fans of the group have spoken: Queen with Lambert is OK
On Saturday at the Wroclaw stadium, there will be Queen, which is composed of guitarist Brian May and drummer Roger Taylor. Singing with them, American Adam Lambert known from the "American Idol". How does he cope with the hits of the British legend? Pretty good.
"No one can replace Freddie Mercury," "this is no longer Queen" - such comments can be read on the internet. But we have a recording from less than a week before the concert - Queen played on 30 June in Kiev - which shows that May and Taylor knew well what they were doing, inviting the American to work together.
His experiences shared with us Thomas Wiercioch from Slupsk, 28-year-old, whom the Queen has accompanied for two-thirds of his life. - When I was nine, Dad was repairing the CD player. He played "Innuendo" to check whether it worked. And so this all for me began - says Wiercioch. - Today I collect vinyl records, interesting facts connected with the band, I examine the details of the biography of the musicians, even visited their private properties.
He is a member of the official international fan club team, co-organizing meetings of fans in the New Town Lubawskie. On one of them he met the long-time assistant of Freddie - Peter Freestone, for this year, in July there will be Jim Jenkins, the official biographer of the British. Wiercioch also designed the official jersey of last year's London concert "Tribute to Freddie Mercury" - Queen fills every day of my life.
So Thomas could not miss Kiev. The musicians played there for Ukrainian AntiAids foundation (there was also Elton John). More than 20 hours on the bus, five hours of waiting, two-hour concert of idols, and again 20 hours in a bus - the trip was with my friend Maciek Kuszlewicz, also a big fan of this formation. - Paid off, we were only a few meters away from the scene - he says.
Until recently, Thomas was a bitter opponent of the Queen with Lambert - I do not like his music, for me it is a creation of American pop culture, a few months ago in an interview he did not remember the name of Queen guitarist - he says. That was until now.
- In Kiev, he surprised me with a great preparation, style and the fact that he did not copy Mercury - he says.
According to Thomas, Lambert is like Freddie very theatrical on stage, but he also connects to the vocal and sometimes - sings differently, and really very good, he has also added cool energy to them on stage.
Wiercioch can make a comparison, because he was on several shows in 2005 and 2008, when Queen sang with Queen Paul Rogers. - It was a meeting of great legends, even the songs they played with Rogers - he recalls. - With Lambert this sounds more "team". I still will not reach for his solo discs, but I admit that I liked well as he sang, and acted on the stage.
The concert has surprised Thomas in many respects. - There were many flavors, such as songs from the first and second albums, changed arrangements, interesting vocals from May and Taylor and two percussionists on stage - he says. The second one was the son of Roger, Rufus. - When Taylor goes to center stage and sings "A Kind Of Magic," his son sits behind his kit. This sounds very cool, just like their joint solo - live in Kiev, says Thomas Wiercioch.
Of course, the screen shows Freddie, not the lack of the band's biggest hits. Important, however, is that Taylor and May are still in good shape, and Lambert has passed the test. - Of course I'll be in Wroclaw, and that right under the stage - declares Tomek - after what I saw in Kiev, I'm sure it will be a great concert.
Tickets for Saturday's concert can be purchased na www.rockinwroclaw.pl and on the concert at the stadium. The cheapest costs 199 zł (159 zł standing place), the most expensive 549 zł (Golden Prestige offers a place in the parking lot). Start at approx. 18:30, opening the gates to 16 Besides the Queen gets: IRA, Mona and the Power of Trinity
I just spent about an hour on the QueenOnline forum... It made me feel for the people who worship someone who is no longer here ... doing this for 20 years!... and some have grown bitter...The thing that struck me most is their lack of respect towards Brian and Roger...I am truly shocked and upset for them... (I am in love with Brian, so I feel hurt I suppose)
Talon, if you are here, and you are a thinking, reasonable person - what is your opinion? I would understand if the forum were a "Freddie" only forum, but it is not. and the vitriol towards B&R and their feelings and their opinions is astounding...I can totally understand not liking Adam or anyone else who is "replacing" their idol. As I said before - I am so imprinted on Adam's voice and Adam's delivery that I totally relate to someone being imprinted on Freddie's voice. But Queen sound is much more than one voice...
anyhooo....I probably broke some rule by talking about another forum - so you can delete it...at least I wrote this and blew some steam off - I just feel insulted for B&R...
I'm not sure I understand the question exactly but I will talk about the forums. I'm obviously there (i'm soxtalon there). Beware a long post to get to a shorter answer. SKIP to the end for the summing up if you don't want a history of Queen since Freddie's death.
I think it's been a LONG time coming there. Some fans have grown disillusioned with Brian and Roger for a number of reasons. Despite all four members really being equal and important to the Queen sound, Freddie was the most loved member and the one who would be missed the most. It's unfair but Freddie's death cemeted that because Freddie couldn't make any "bad" choices. He left on a high note so to speak.
When Freddie died, Brian really kind of wanted to leave Queen behind due to pain, etc. The band issued a statement that said that the band was not going to be active & that there was no point in continuing without Freddie. Brian went so far as to say we wouldn't see them going out on tour as Queen again. He delved into a solo career and really had to be cajoled back by Roger and John to finish off the Made In Heaven album. Somewhere around 1998-1999 while Brian and Roger were touring solo releases they really started to kind of gel again and wanted to explore Queen again as that's what everyone really wanted to hear. John on the other hand became more and more reclusive before retiring.
Along the way Queen became a sort of relic from the past while the music business went on to do AI type of shows and pop stars were more created than discovered in a way. In Queen's day bands would travel around building a repetoire and a fanbase and were given more than one album (or in some cases one song) to make it. Queen's first album wasn't a success and Queen II wasn't much better. It wasn't til the Sheer Heart Attack album that they started making it.
Queen was really the antithesis to all the reality show stuff and all the boy band stuff. Then 5ive came along. A real boy band that covered We Will Rock You and was able to get Brian and Roger to guest with them. Queen fans overeacted a bit against the idea of them with this manufactured group.
Then the musical came. That was the first real divisive point. It wasn't too big a deal because the band was still not really active but it definitely wasn't rock and roll, it was far more homogenized. Now you can argue (and I would agree) that Queen was far more than rock and roll and that was one of the reasons it is so universal BUT it's base (especially the early years) was rooted in rock. This seemed to some to be the antithesis of rock and it was driven through by Brian and Roger. BUT even then it would be forgiven given the subject matter where it basically through satire lashed out at AI and the like. (likewise the track C-Lebrity they did with Paul Rodgers seemed to be more of the same - on a personal note I will say it's unfair to use this song when attacking the QAL collaboration because it really is meant to attack the game (the show itself) and the C-Leb types like the Kardashian and Hiltons who are famous for being famous...and not the players (the singers who are talented)).
Then came QPR. This became another big divisive moment. Many fans felt betrayed. They felt Brian sold out since they still agreed with the statement that there was no point in going on as Queen. It's simple but if they went out under a new banner or as Brian May/Roger Taylor/Paul Rodgers - there wouldn't be half the bitching but using the name Queen was a betrayal of sorts. (I don't agree with that because to me it's the active members of the band performing the Queen catalogue - what else would you call it?) But that's me. I understand the issue and empathize - it just doesn't bother me.
Then there have been other interesting choices. The decisions to go on AI and X-Factor etc was considered selling out given their stance on the shows. To me again, (maybe I'm an apologist) but I think they can not like the shows but still realize that in today's world that's how music is marketed right or wrong.
Brian further made waves by instead of working with Roger or on archival products he championed West End star Kerry Ellis and has been working a TON with her in a very non-rock move.
In addition things that have pissed off the fans the most is the lack of Queen product that we know is out there. Brian and Roger have been pushing a lot of items aimed at the casual music buyers. A lot of greatest hits type material, compilations and bareboned reissues with only a few interesting bonus tracks - re-releasing live albums fans already have. AND we know there is good stuff out there that we've heard in bootleg form etc. We know the band have high quality live gigs waiting to be released - ESPECIALLY from the 70s era where we have NO DVD releases and NO live audio (bar Live Killers from 79 and that is far from comprehensive.) As early as 1994 Queen productions have made mention of an Anthology type project with tons of demos and unheard Freddie gems. Here it is nearly 20 years later and the fans are still waiting.
Roger in particular has loose lips when talking about possible things that never seem to come to fruition - his new solo album has been mentioned for at least 4-5 years. He was going to go on a solo tour with Taylor Hawkins.
So one of the major problems the band has is that instead of rewarding the long term fans with Freddie product, it gets pushed aside for more GH or tours with "c-lebs" etc.
I think the vitriol would be FAR less if they could release some interesting items alongside doing what they are doing.
I guess to SUM up. In the eyes of a very vocal minority
1. Brian and Roger have been hypocritical by going on AI/X-factor (and a tour with a product of one of those shows makes it 10 times worse) and working with Manufactured pop stars rather than artists who came about the same way they did.
2. Without Freddie there is no Queen. Brian and Roger once felt that way so it's a bit of a betrayal for them to try to move on now...and worse so to do so the way they have.
3. It feels as if the band is completely ignoring their hardcore fanbase in favor of the casual greatest hits crowd - some believe because they feel that's where the $$ is.
4. They have intimated things and then not come through on them for a fair while now.
All in all it's frustration that is leading to vitriol. I think it's fair to say that all major Queen fans feel some of the above at times or can at least empathize...but there is a definite vocal minority that feel all of the above and beyond.
Sorry for the long post but there was no quick and easy way to answer that
As to MY personal opinion?
I think that Brian and Roger have quite often let themselves go down a few too many flights of fancy a times. I think that they have a real solid chemistry and should work more together (even on their own) just to get some of the archival work out and even newer work IN the Queen field. I also think that QAL for example wouldn't attract nearly the negativity it has if it was accompanied by releases of archival Queen material with Freddie as well.
To me that's the way it should be done - it keeps both sides happy.
BUT I understand that they owe me nothing and that they should be able to do whatever it is that makes them happy. I just hope they can throw a bone or two to their really hardcore fan base.
(NOTE: :)My comments are not meant towards YOU but to the fan base in general, and I stipulate my writing comes off as very direct but it's just my "way" from being in a hurry and having been a tech writer for so long.)
In my research, the "vocal minority" is what? About 30 people if that?
LOL Adam official members size versus Queen Online.
If I were Brian I would never link to that site while it still has a forum. I don't know who pays for that site but the forum needs to GO.
Anyway, IMO these disdainful, opinionated, smug entitled group are a bunch of Truthers. I never saw so many willfully uninformed and such an unenlightened bunch. I stipulate there are cultural differences, which, of course they refuse to acknowledge.
We won't even go INTO how rude they are towards Adam's fans and enjoy the practice of kicking kittens.
When unencumbered with facts they just lie. Like swearing Adam said he was the perfect replacement for Freddie because he's gay. Or that he's using a prompter because he doesn't know the words evidenced by the fact he glanced downward once at Kiev during Radio Gaga.
There was no internet and Idol type shows in 1991. B&R are exploring the CURRENT TREND in POP CULTURE. They owe their old fans NOTHING but what they're giving them.
New releases of known material, and playing favorites on tour, as per ROGER, because it's DEMANDED of them. They are FINALLY able to throw a couple of old tracks in the new show BECAUSE OF ADAM.
HOW do these "fans" think B&R are going to replace OLD FANS DYING OFF with the current generation if they don't engage them? Ridiculous.
Furthermore, maybe they don't FEEL LIKE LIVING IN THE PAST and think it's simply FUN.
Roger already said if he had the secret to churning out pop music singles he wouldn't have to be touring in his 60's.
OTOH, I have NEVER SEEN Brian having so much FUN on tour INCLUDING with Freddie. Freddie NEVER did stuff to crack Brian's shit up right on stage like ADam is doing.
So when Freddie purists can REWARD Brian with something equal, instead of their entitlement, maybe he'd give a damn lol.
LOL the homophobia is pathetic! Some 50 year old hetero Queen fan living in some village somewhere proselytizer with their "rights of free speech" and their own definition of homophobia, and/or the dismissal of the entire concept of homophobia.
LOL though, they purloined OUR USA Stonewall movement without giving credit on their site. No shock there.
Of course, these people have no idea about LGBT history, what homophobia REALLY is, while they allow on the official site and in fact promote their hate speech about Adam being effeminate, "NAUSEATING", too gay, child of Liza Minnelli, wearing gay clothes, might be a woman, is a drag queen etc etc etc. Oh and he's a disgusting ginger. WTAF.
Long live the memory of the transgender drag performer who changed the world at Stonewall! God save the Queen fans if they ever have to deal with the subject of transgender.
FACT: Freddie sacrificed his entire life for that fanbase, unable to live a fulfilled life and courageously live out HIS dreams. Professionally: The first thing he did was put out a pop album when he left. So this crap about Adam and pop is truther talk. AND his album wasn't so greatly received by these so called die hart fans who never even charted his #1 single until it was remixed long after his death.
Personally: His sacrifice speaks for itself. Because of his notoriety he was completely unable to pursue happiness and experience a complete and fulfilled life - with Mary Austin he was locked into her emotionally unable to pursue a true relationship with a man. And at the end, had to mask his male partner as the gardener for six years. The tragedy of his life is completely overshadowed by his so called "fans" demands for Freddie purity and "more music, more music, more music". No Freddie No Queen. PFFFT Even Freddie's death bed statement was clinical. He was unable to be true to himself and put out the message for his LGBT community including asking for research and funding to put the ghey plague in the forefront of research because of this "fanbase" and public opinion.
Adam is flamboyant? Because Truthers like to pretend Freddie's birthday video with drag queens doesn't exist.
They were 4 individuals and just because fans have stunted emotional growth for the past 21 years is completely irrelevant to Roger and Brian's life paths. And if we're being honest, Smile did NOT include any Freddie Mercury until later. But then...honesty would require the admission that Freddie, while perhaps a vocal genius at one point in time, had his own shortcomings and was simply human.
IMO the vitriol about Adam is easily explained. He's the first perceived THREAT to Freddie truthers that's come along, so let's take the low road and make up silly criticisms and take him and his silly fan base of blue haired sparkle cows with him. HOW DARE they not know God Save the Queen is LEGEND to be performed at every show! And WHY AREN"T Queen+Lambert doing that!!!! It's all that American Lambert's fault!! (oh played it or something in Moscow? *crickets*)
Why should B&R give up a year of their lives if THERE EVEN IS some old stuff from before 1991? How do they know it is even resurrect-able?
And all this talk about Michael Jackson + Freddie release? They make not a dime on that, most likely so let someone else pay and do the labor to put it out.
"We know the band have high quality live gigs waiting to be released"
BTW do the fans know if Freddie's old material never put out by Queen before 1991 is royalty to Mary Austin OR Queen? No, I didn't think so.
Freddie had 7 years to get his affairs in place and unless Freddie Truthers have access to his documents they really don't know WHAT is available and WHAT the benefits to Queen B&R may be. Nor do they know the relationship among them. My mother changed her will 5 times before she died.
Meanwhile, while this radical small "fanbase" is blowing dust off of their old records and claiming to cry every time they see Freddie's face they're completely insignificant to the lives of Brian, Roger and Adam Lambert, the person who breathed new LIFE into "QUEEN".
Today's discussion over there is what constitutes a "Queen fan". There's criteria you know! If you are not a fully informed FANATIC on their LEVEL, you have no right to use that word. THIS coming from the ADMIN. LMAO. Do they think the 300K people who saw Kiev are like THEM?
Please pass this message on, referencing the brilliant memory of an Atop poster upthread or on a different thread. Adam favorited this tweet, B&R&A should have tee shirts made up with this on it, no shade:
"You cannot imagine the immensity of the fuck I do not give." [/blockquote]
Q: Are you tired, did you visit some clubs in Wroclaw?
A: No, I relaxed. I took a walk at the Rynek (Marketplace), did shop a little. I needed some rest not only after the concerts in Kiev and Moscow, but also because of the promo for my second soloalbum "Trespassing", which was released one month ago. We fly from Wroclaw to London to make another 3 concerts, then I'll go back to LA to continue promoting my solo album.
Q: Which achieved no. 1 on Billboard charts, congratulations!
A: Thank you.
Q: You are very popular, especially in the USA, where you realesed your second album. When Brian May, the guitar player from Queen called you to offer to start a tour together, haven't you thought you would take a back seat?
A: Are you kidding? It was a honor for me. I met Brian and Roger for the first time on stage three years ago during AI, where I was the runner-up. Then me, them and another contestant sang together "We Are The Champgions". After that there was a performence at the EMAs and alredy then whe knew thet there is an amazing chemestry on stage between us. When I heard Brian's voice a short time after that in my phone who offering me singing live the songs Freddie Mercury once performed, I was happy. Of course I had some doubts how the Queen fans would react about me, but I decided to take the risk.
Q: During the auditions to AI you wsa singing "Bohemian Rapsody". Tonight you will sing this song in front of 30.000 fans.
A: This is an incredible feeling. I was always a fan of Freddie, he is an amazing singer. I am actually fan of rockmusic of the 80s, so I feel very good with Queen.
Q: What was the biggest surprise for you after the concerts in Kiev and Moscow?
A: The fact that they got recieved so enthusiastically. I was breathing a sign of relieve, believe me. When I am singing I am always watching the audience carefully. I saw there my fans, Queen fans, people of different age.
Q: Do you thing there is a chance to make a record with Queen?
A: Why not? I don't rule that out. We work very good together and I am sure these few european concerts are not our last. We will see what will happen in the future.
Q: You started your carreer as an actor and singer in American muscials. When you see how your carreer is evolving, do you thing your dreams are coming true?
A: It will surprise you, but I always thought I will stay at the theater for good. It was ok for me, and I get to AI out of curiosity. Or maybe because I needed a change? After that everything eveloped so fast. I am still young and I think there is a lot ahead of me, I am just at the beginning.
Q: You admit openly that you are gay and you support gay organisations. Were you not afraid to lose fans when you came out?
A: No. I think this is very important to speak out loud and clear, who you are. This is cathartic.
Sorry for mistakes, I just don't have enough time to make it better :D
vecadam has just posted her recap of Wroclaw concert on our NZGlitterTribe FB page and she said I could share it with you all.
My dear NZberts!!! By now you've probably have seen it all. I'll add my two cents. It was THE best thing that I have ever experienced!!! No words. I was third from the barricades and maybe 10m from the stage. Crowd around me was mixed-loads of man of all ages, they were on fire. Adam was perfection-no wrong notes or fail lyric this time. And he was running the show and waving the concert master baton. He was loving the crowd and I think was taken back a bit by the reception he got. This stadium was definitely all queen fans, buy they embraced Adam with open arms. I can aware to you that Adam was looking at me all the time. I did not get any "looks" on GNT, but last night, maybe there were cute men around me, but he was actually looking at me all the time. It was amazing. The show was just incredible. People were what any artist would wish for. Cherie and others moved back so Cherie can stream. I could not take my eyes of Adam. He was dripping sex and confidence and his smiles were as wide as ever. His thrusts, his hips, his mike wank .... Oh em ge!!! I have not seen any videos yet, but I hope there will be good videos. I have not seen any people with cameras filming, only taking photos now and then. For those that wanted merch, there was nothing there!!! Hopefully London will have it. I was hoping to get it here tho, cos everything is sooo cheap. Mr Adam, I want to have your babies, and give you my organs and I want to tattoo last night in my brain so it can play mom stop in my brain.... Xoxo
